Club members in blue and gold kit at a cafe stop

Ride with us

Fancy joining us for a ride? Here's some information which you might find helpful.

Club Rides

  • 1930 Meet, 1945 Start
  • 20-25 miles
  • Mamil, Halifax
  • 12-18mph average

Our main social ride. Meet at St George's Square. No drop ride, 1-2 groups depending on numbers. Ends at a quality pub, arranged in advance. Once you're a member you'll be informed of the destination pub 1-2 days before the ride.

If the weather is particularly bad, ride lengths will be shortened.

  • 0900 Meet, 0915 Start
  • 45-60 miles
  • Mamil, Halifax
  • 17-20mph average

For those wanting to push on. A brisker through-and-off group covering bigger miles, with a cafe stop roughly halfway. Solid group-riding experience is helpful but not essential — just come ready to work.

Routes head out into the Dales and the lanes beyond Calderdale.

  • 0900 Meet, 0915 Start
  • 30-45 miles
  • Mamil, Halifax
  • 13-16mph average

A relaxed, no-drop Sunday ride at a chatty pace. We regroup at the top of every climb and the cafe stop is non-negotiable.

A great introduction to longer club rides if the Thursday night ride has given you the bug.

  • 1000 Meet, 1015 Start
  • 30-40 miles
  • Mamil, Halifax
  • 12-15mph average

A daytime midweek ride for members with flexible hours, retirees and shift workers. Steady pace, good lanes and a proper sit-down cafe stop.

Numbers vary week to week, so keep an eye on the club chat.

Ride Etiquette

What to bring

We're not going to provide an exhaustive list of what to bring as we don't want to be patronising, but here is some guidance for those new to group riding.

Helmet
Required.
Cycling kit (lycra)
If you don't have any, that's fine, but most of us wear it.
Puncture repair basics, pump with presta-valve attachment, multi-tool, tyre levers
If you aren't well versed in basic bike maintenance, we should be able to help with most eventualities.
Water bottle
Not all our rides will take too long but it's still good to have something.
Energy bar, gel, banana etc
Again, take what you feel you may need. Longer rides tend to have cafe stops but you still might want a back up.
Rain jacket
Packable into a jersey pocket.

Club Kit

Wearing the blue and gold (yes it's gold, not yellow) isn't required to ride with the club, but who doesn't want to fit in with the pack? Our kit is produced by Nopinz, who produce kit on demand, with no minimum order quantity.

Nopinz has a range of kit available, and you can order directly from their website. The lead time for orders is normally around 4-6 weeks.
